You may have received a notification to organise weight for your upcoming assessment. We understand that not everyone has hand weights or a gym at home. There are however multiple different options to create the required weight using house hold items.
To prepare your weights you can use unopened items that have their weights listed on them such as bags of rice, reams of paper, cans of food.
You can also use heavy items such as bricks or books from around your house, and weigh the items with scales.
To assist you in preparing the weight you need for your online pre-employment medical assessment, we has provided some suggestions to assist you in gathering common items that may be found around the house that can make up the weight you need for the role you are applying for.
Once your appointment is booked , go to attendee instructions to find out how much weight you will be required to lift for the role you are applying for. This can be found under your bookings.

You will be asked to confirm your weight by the assessor so ensuring you have scales ready for your assessment is a requirement.
If you happen to have weights in your home similar to what is pictured below or any sort of gym weights, this is the easiest and quickest way to gather the amount of weight you need, provided you have enough weight for the combined total you need for the role you are applying for.
Pictured below, you will see bottles of juice, laundry detergent, books, long life milk and cans of food.
These are heavy items found in most homes, all of which can be used for the weight lifting assessment.
Other items you may have in your home are bags of rice, flour, a sack of potatoes, a bag of onions or bricks. You could also fill empty bottles or containers with water. You may be able to find other similar heavy items around your home that will do the job the same.

If you do not have any of the above items in your home or not enough to make up the weight required for the role you are applying for, borrow some weights or some of these items from a friend or family member.
The next thing you will need is an item to put these in. We recommend a sturdy luggage bag, backpack, or laundry basket, similar to what is pictured below.
Pack the items into your bag or laundry basket and use a towel (or similar soft item) to fill up any empty space to ensure the loose items do not move too much while you are lifting if you are using a bag or suitcase.

You may have to fill both sides of the suitcase as pictured below to ensure you have enough weight for the role you are applying for.

Remember to use a towel (or similar soft item) to pad your weight and ensure the items do not move around too much while you are performing the lifting exercise.

Check the items on your scales to ensure it is within 1 kg of the required weight for the role you are applying for.

If your suitcase, bag, or laundry basket does not adequately fit on your scales, first weigh yourself on the scales without the weighted item, then weigh yourself while carrying the weighted item and minus the difference which will tell you the weight of your item.
As mentioned above you will be required to upload an image of your weight prior to your assessment and this will be verified by the assessor at the start of the assessment.
