The majority of roles we assess for have some sort of lifting requirement. It is a requirement of your prospective employer that we assess you lifting the weight you were requested to organise to a particular height/s during your physical assessment.
When organising your weight for this assessment you may want to have the total weight made up of smaller objects. If you feel like you may be unable to safely lift the required weight you will then have the chance to attempt this at a lower weight.
Your safety is the most important part of the process and if at any time you do not feel comfortable to attempt or wish to stop a particular task then please do so and inform the assessing therapist.
It is a common misconception by some applicants that it is against occupational health and safety law to lift a particular weight. Due to a variety of reasons this is not true. If you would like to read more on this you can find it in the (Hazardous Manual Handling) of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (2017).
